Social Network- Facebook

After a very long time , a movie that inspired my thoughts to start my blogging . The Social Network based on the life story of Mark Zuckerberg the Co-founder of facebook. It means there was another guy "Savarin" was part of facebook,.
The words uttered by Mark's girl friend , struck him like a hammer to prove that he is not a jerk. He creates a network page within Harvard University , to rate girls initially under the name facemash.com. It received 22000 hits within a single day. The Harvard server crashed due to heavy traffic.
He faces an enquiry under the disciplinary committee , criticizing his actions on hacking the server , unauthorized sharing of pictures and of course crashing the server. Marks reply was the spot light " I apologize to any women at Harvard as they think they were insulted but i expect recognition from the computer department , since i was able to spot the loop holes in your securit system".
Next marks the entry of Cameron and Taylor (twins)two graduates of the Harvard school , who really came with the idea of developing a Harvard network exclusively to Harvard students. Then Mark realized that his web page facemash was visited by 22000 people not because of finding girls but they could find the girls whom they know and lost in touch. So he came tried to develop a social page where all information is made available to all.
He developed the page with a initial investment of $1000 and later 18000$ for promoting the site . When the popularity raised , cameron and taylor sued him for stealign his idea. Within 6 months facebook had 1 million members , and went public issue . Savarin was sabotaged by "Seaun parker"- founder of napster . Mark's life had intelligent twists and turns filled with betrayal , greed , intelligence , glamour and all the adjectives one can think of.
There is nothing big to talk about the making of the movie since the life of Mark was too dominating to notice that. Finally , Mark settelled all the issues by payig 65 million dollars to the twins and his close friend was settled with an undisclosed amount and he later went on to become the youngest billionaire who is valued at $25 billion.
After watching the movie , one could find similarity in attitude of Mark and Dirubhai (Guru) the difference is the nature of the industry they both excelled in. May be they have same ideology in business

Terrified ,Horrified,Petrified on OCT 27

The week that wasn't as expected , a series of unfortunate events and life threatening incidents all fell on the same day .Oh My God ! when small thing go out of way it leads to chain of events which i am unable to decipher the real meaning of such occurrences thus proving the butterfly theory .All the events are inter linked just like the ecosystem to maintain its balance .

The entire incident was narrated by mom , when we had a small chat during dinner. Around 8.30 AM ,there was huge bang at the door step with a hue and cry of a lady. My brother rushed to open the door ,she cried for help that her cylinder started leaking while she was cleaning the kitchen .In an attempt to close and the valve and remove cylinder hose to shift the stove to a new place , the metal valve at the cylinder mouth started leaking with a huge noise. My bother was in fix unable to react to the situation.

All the residents were informed one intelligent person switched off the main supply to entire building to avert any fire accidents by electric spark . Later all the people rushed outside for safety ,the cylinder stopped its hissing noise only after it got emptied itself. The smell of LPG reached the neighboring houses, all rushed to the flats for the cause of he smell. The aroma was so strong it created head ache and nausea to all the residents.

The major disappointing factor was the non availability of the Fire service or Gas supplier to the rescue. Why the bloody hell they are appointed with no use to the public . And the resident who was provided with a unchecked cylinder was not ready to file a police complaint .What a stupid society and its selfishness to shy away from problems that really needs to be addressed.

This tortured my mind for almost an hour , where i started thinking about the severity of the incident and how every single daily routine work averted the mishap and saved almost 15 lives in the same day . The neighbor used to practice yoga around 7 Am by lighting a agarabathi in front of God and his wife yet to start cooking . In my home my mom used cook before 8 AM so that she can pack lunch bags for me and my brother . Nobody switched on any electrical gadgets at that time .There are no chain smokers in our colony . The possibility of external fire is almost nill when the incident happened . This prevented a major headlines in Ambattur region.

Though I might sound like an atheist or cynical towards GOD , but finally i thanked HIM for the blessings he has showered on us and saved our colony residents. Still this incident keeps knocking my head and makes me restless..

“Enchanting Tirupati”

It was the day that filled my heart and soul with sanctity. Everything fell into place at the right time, to make a perfect visit to Tirupati. We (Me and 2 of my class mates) started our journey to Tirumala at 6.30 AM from Chennai. The four hours of bus journey went on in no time with lots of laughs and gags. In the middle there was pit stop at a motel, where we had our breakfast. The bus reached Tirupati exactly at 11.00 AM. Only two of us decided to ascend the hill by foot, the other friend went to the top by bus.

As we raced through the steps it went on well till 300 nonstop with lot of enthusiasm and pace. We made our first halt at that point, followed by the next halt at 700 th step. This is where we started feeling the pain in our legs and dryness in mouth. We covered 700 in just 30 minutes, by that time we have emptied our first water bottle. Next pit stop at 900, the count on the number of steps reduced owing to the steepness of the hills.

An hour later we covered just 1200 steps, 200 short of the initial start time and we had very long break of 10 min. During our ascend, I happened to notice various kind people each with their own rituals and practice of ascend. Some walking on their knees, some placing camphor on each steps and lighting them and some placing Sandanam and Kum Kum in each step. Walking straight is a humongous thing and bending yourself in each step; I can’t imagine the pain they bear and toughness of their mind.

As a sign of hope , I saw a sign board reading 600 steps more for darshan token but it short lived my friend said “ It’s just the counter and not the top we are just half way through now”. After we received our tokens for the darshan a small halt. From there it was more like a walk which came as survivor to us, with larger steps for another 5 Km. Then came the final 300, where we were almost drained and drenched in sweat .By that time we have emptied 3 water bottles and 2 Sprite bottles. The time was 1.40 PM and it took almost half an hour for us to cover the final league.

The time was 2.15 PM at the top; the devotees were ushered to the q complex especially for the people who came by walk. We made a long halt at the complex for about 90 minutes, when the door was opened there was a huge rush pushing and crushing and shouting and chanting to lead the queue. Finally, to reach the main temple it was 5.30 PM and we had the glimpse of Lord Venkateswara Just for a few seconds .All this ordeal only for this few moments that keeps the hopes of billions to visit again. Such a hardship almost seemed nothing, after the darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

Finally, the next best thing of Tirupati is of course Laddoo’s who can miss this, after receiving it, we reached our room at Ahobila Mutt around 7.30 PM. Two unexpected things happened there , one was our friend who went up directly by bus did not have his darshan and returned home empty handed and other was we could not record any of those moments in cam. Both of these events, made us to plan for another to visit Tirupati asap or atleast before completing our course.

"Being Tall Is An Advantage"

Wow! after a very very long time , i happened to experience a dramatic event in my life. July 1,the time was close to 9.30 pm, there was light drizzle outside, i was waiting to board my bus to coimbatore at CMBT. As the bus arrived , i placed my luggage at the top and sat at seat no 18. A girl stepped in with heavy luggages in her hands. As she was trying to push her luggage at the top ,my conscience urged me to help her. Before i stood up she was successful in placing her suitcase. Gash! missed the chance of helping that poor girl. Suddenly I realized that her faced resembled like someone i have seen earlier.

Five minutes later, she returned back to her suitcase having placed her ticket inside it.She was trying to pull it out with great difficulty. This time with no intention to miss this chance ,offered my helping hand. She took her ticket from a small bag inside the suitcase and she went on.This made me feel bad, she did not have courtesy to thank.A minute later ,she flipped her goddamn hair and thanked me with a cute smile. That was like a lightning to bowl me over.I mentioned earlier that she was a well known face, she is none other than a girl who acted in "Kallikattu Pallikudam."

“Expect the Unexpected is old saying Expect the expected is my saying"

"My Name is Vinodh and I am not an accused"

Most of us long for good old days in our life, the thrill we experienced and tension in our heart when we were caught by the wrong doings. As we grow we might austere ourselves from certain activities or reduce to less eccentric state. But I had an opportunity to turn back the pages of my life once again today. The analogy was same place, same mistake and exactly the same spot to give a special mention.

Last 2 of my friends were along with me, when we trespassed the railway line at Park Station. But This time I was alone, I boarded the train to central around 10.30 after a long wait at Ambattur .This made me reckless as it was getting late for my internship. The travel time is less but the transit is almost equal to my travelling time. After a small stride from central, I reached park station to board the train to Mambalam.

The moment where the fate played a trick on me, I noticed the train approaching the platform .The only way to catch is to bypass the foot over bridge and cross the tracks. Though I was in the same situation 2 years back, but I could not resist myself from making the same mistake. Within seconds of such an act I was surrounded by 2 people asking for my ticket. I realized that I was caught again for the same reason.

I was made to stand along with group who were caught for the same reason. There was hue and cry initially, people trying to highlight the reasons for their act .The RPF was adamant in leaving anyone, I enjoyed the scene very much. I made a call to my friend who accompanied me when I was caught for the first time. We shared those thoughts and great memory exchanges with him. As time passed, RPF directed us to Railway Police Station.

Everything was bearable except the advice given by railway police, which continued for 10 minutes. Oh my god those 10 minutes seemed like listening to lecture for more than an hour or so. Around 2 hours later, they asked for the fine and address. Initial fine amount was 500 as per IPC, later they registered me under Footboard. Since I am a student a concession was given by the Police, asked me to pay Rs.100 in front of the magistrate in Egmore Station.

"Never Encourage a conversation to the Unknown"

The final twist and hilarious thing that happened when I was waiting outside the court for my turn to pay the fine. A lean man came near and engaged himself in a conversation with me, he showered a long list of questions enquiring about this gathering in front of the court. After answering his questions , he revealed that he is from press .He gave me a compliment thanks for explaining me the details very clearly to me. He wanted to highlight this issue but I made a bargain with him , I gave you the details so don’t cover me in your shoot. Before he could turn up , I was produced in front of the magistrate along four other guys.

Magistrate asked,” will you repeat this”, we all nodded our head affirming her that we won’t repeat this. She asked us to pay Rs.100 each and leave the place. First time in my life, had chance to visit the court. That was quite an unforgettable moment that remains etched in my heart. I lost the pride of saying , I never visited police station or court .Before the news reporter could come for the coverage I left the place since I don’t like publicity stunt .

Hmmm! ( Evalavo paanrom idha panna mattoma)…

"April 13 -A Day To Remember"

Though it happens to be my birthday, i wanted to do something useful at least on this day.Every year we celebrate our birthday with a cake, presenting and receiving gifts ,birthday bums ,treat etc etc. I decided to do something useful that can be a message to my friends and encourage them to contribute something to the needy people. From no where this idea struck me like a hammer , my conscience urged me to do go ahead and do the right thing .

After i pledged myself and filled the form , a gush of joy rushed through out my veins .It was a moment of silence running through my mind.Sense of pride in my behavior and attitude. All because of a simple thing that had so much influence in me.I am writing this post , after i registered myself for lighting up the life of a person in the near future.

I think most of you might have guessed it , for what this hoopla all about? i have submitted my form for eye donation.I will receive my acknowledgment card within two weeks, will try to post the card soon.It might seem to be simple act and nothing great to mention about. But i felt proud in my thought and heart .A lot to be mentioned about my birthday , it was great day that will always linger in my mind on every April 13 , but the thoughts on this deed overshadowed my birthday bash.

"A Help In Need Is A Help Indeed"

Though this was a casual thing but an unusual part of that day,it was close to half past 4 in the evening. Sun seemed to scorch the roads like a fire bed . On my way back to home from college ,had to board my train from Park to Chennai central. In a small transit between the two station , i was craming into my mobile to send forwards to all my friends. A Old lady close to 5o was watching observing me for quite a long time.I too noticed that she was constantly admiring my activites. All of a sudden she engaged herself in a conversation with me, which went on like this..
Old lady: Son, What are you doing with your phone
Me: Nothing just reading messages...
O.L : hmmm, i saw a sign board stating about the tariff of roaming charges, could u give me some details about that.
Me: ( explained her about the plans and how they charge, best plan ..blah ,blah)..
O.L : Oh ! thank you..
Me: Give me your bag i can help you to till the station( I saw her struggling to carry those heavy bags, offered to my hand to help her carry the luggage)...
O.L : No problem son, I can manage....
Me: Its k , give me one ..
O.L : So nice of you,thanks a lot(
Me : No probs....
In a 10 min transit , she spoke about her family her life and where she is heading to.I was just a silent listener to all her talk . Finally we reached the suburban station , i handed her luggage back. She thanked me once again for my help,I said,"welcome"And i saw my train waiting in platform number 13 ready to leave ,and ran towards the train to make it on time.

Note:Two things i felt strange about this happening, one the unusual discussion and other her belief to offer the luggage to me.( this wont happen everyday and with everyone)...

After a long Time

The normal routine class hours that was filled with presentations , discussions ,lectures had an opportunity to break those hand cuffs to a different ball game T.T. (table tennis). Its been a long while, i played that sport.During my final years of SSN this was the favorite pass time ,there was a huge fight in grabbing the bats from the sports dept. Our dept was very close to the sports block we used to grab it earlier than other students. If we start playing at 2 :00 pm it would continue till 7:00 pm (time for the closure of sports block).
This time I went to one my classmates house where he had T.T table for himself, as we started to play, i could feel the loss of touch in the game . Slowly i grabbed the form but not fully ,yet it needs lot of play to go for spin and precise smashes. On the very first day we played for almost 3 hours, that made everyone feel the loss of energy in them. Hope to play a lot n the future if time and situation favors.

Trying to Avert

Oh my God! , I was in a total fix to hear the words from my Mom, are you a dumb headed. I was totally confused what made her to utter the word. My mind began to think on its own way, striving to identify the cause that made my Mom so anguish about me. I was pretty confident on myself that I did not do any kind of selfless act. After a series of advice from my parents, I came to know that,”Every day morning I am the last person to leave the house so it’s my responsibility to lock all the doors, But today I forgot to close the doors”. Ah! I was in a bad state ,unable to convince them what made me forget since I had no reason explain on that.
Hope it never happens again .

"Visit to Hyundai "

Our department first industrial visit to HMIL turned out to be a memorable one. It was arranged as a part of extending their goodwill towards DOMS students when we welcomed some of the Korean students who are working as interns in HMI.

As we entered the company, we were ushered to the conference room where a small footage on the Hyundai Motors was presented to us. Hyundai Motors ,a Korean based company, second largestpassenger car manufacturer in India, has production plants at 7 countries .Globally it stands as fifth largest car manufacturers .The plant is located at Irungattukottai at a sprawling campus of 535 acres.

The plant has the state of the art facility with the production capacity of 57 cars per hour. In Chennai they manufacture 6 variants Santro, accent, sonata, i10, i20 and Xing. Chennai is considered to be the main production hub in Asia and also largest manufacturers among other Hyundai plants in rest of Asia. We could witness the entire production line up and the manufacturing process that is involved. The involvement of human resource is totally limited, only supervision is done by humans. After visiting the entire assembly unit, we were taken to the nearest farm house in HMI.

In the farm house we met the same Korean intern students who were waiting for us to welcome us. Had a small refreshment there and later gathered into small groups with One Korean student to each group. It was an opportunity to learn about their culture, way of life, language etc.

After a great session of fun, bid adieu to HMI and Korean friends. When we reached the gates of Hyundai I had a doubt in my mind whether we went for an industrial visit or a small fun trip.

Whatever! it was a day spent with a purpose

3 Cheers to DOMS!!!!!!!
